Misfits Book Review

The Misfits, A Suspenseful Comedy

The fictional novel, The Misfits, written by James Howe, is about four junior high students named Bobby, Skeezie, Addie, and Joe who deal with being misfits in a big school and get called many names. They all call themselves the "Gang of Five", but there are only four of them.

They all have issues; Bobby Goodspeed is fat, Skeezie Tookis is an outcast, Addie Carle is freakishly tall and a know it all, and Joe Bunch is gay. All of them are trying to get through the 7th grade without getting abused and called names. In the story Addie refused to say the pledge because she didn't believe anything in it. Because she refused the school started getting into politics and decided to have an election for student council president. There were only two parties. Addie wanted to make another party that would stop name calling because her and her friends were always called names. They called it the No-Name Party.

I really enjoyed this book because it was funny and interesting. In some parts is get really suspenseful. For example when all the parties get to make a speech I really wanted to know what Bobby would say because I thought he would mess up. However, he didn't mess up and made a great speech and spoke from his heart. This book has made me feel different for people who are "misfits".  I think it would be hard to be one of them because having people bully me really wouldn't be fun and everyone shouldn't be called names, only if you are joking around in a friendly way.

In conclusion, I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great book. I guarantee this book will make you think different about people that are different.
