November 30, 1621 ~ My father was talking to my mother about something called quakers. They said that, "Those quakers are really getting on my nerves. I'll bet that they will burn in hell when they die". I'm guessing that quakers have to do with religion becuase mother and father said hell... They also said, "They need to believe what everyone else believes". My definition of a quaker that I think based on evidence is, "A man or woman who doesnt believe in the same religion as someone else..." My brother Love says that a quaker is someone who doesnt believe that you need a minister to be religious. They all believe that they all have equal power and all have an inner light. They also call themselfes "friends".

December 5, 1621 ~ One of the first days of the second winter... God Bless Everyone....

November 26, 1621 ~ Today is the day ...

November 26, 1621 ~ Today is the day of our big feast! Right now I am writing while looking at the table with all the foods . It all looks really good. The food I cant wait to eat is the turkey and eel. That would be cool if we ate this dinner every year...

Wrestling Brewster's Journal ~ John Milender

I would like to start out by introducing myself. My name is Wrestling Brewster. I was born in 1614 in Leiden, Holland. I am a male gentleman. I have five brothers and sisters. Their names are Patience, Fear, Jonathan, Love, and Child. My kind fathers name is William and my mothers name is Mary. My father, William, was a very knowledgeable man. He was the Elder of the congregation, and in Leiden was an English teacher and published books on religion and theology.

I have never been married. Many people may think that I am dead but I am actually not. My story goes like this;

My family told me that I was on my deathbed ready to die. Then I had took my last breath and died. A few seconds later, (my family had told me) I woke up taking a really deep breath. I had survived and still lived on today.

I "died" at the age of 30 but survived like my story above said. That date that I died was 1644, which is the same year my father did.

September 15, 1620 ~ Today my mother, father, my brother Love, and I get to go on the big ship, The Mayflower. We are going to set sail on it to go to the new world. My father said that we are leaving England because he and mother don't like what the Church is doing or saying ... Me being a 6 year old kid and all, I don't really understand what they mean. It's too complicated.

My father also said that our trip to the new world will take around 60 to 70 days to get there.

September 16, 1620 ~ We have set sail off to the New World.

September 29, 1620 ~ It isn't as much fun as i thought it would be on the Mayflower. I have thrown up a few times since we left... I guess I get seasick. It can get boring on this ship sometimes. I cant wait till' we get there. My father said that there was a man that went to the new world before us and made a map on his way. He said that our captain is using the same map as the man, John Smith, did.

November 20, 1620 ~ We are here finally! It looks a lot different than England. There are strange plants here in the new world. There's some pretty cool trees too. I think I'm going to like it here. Being on the Mayflower sailing was fun. I never really got to go on the deck. I had to stay in the cabin because sometimes when there was a storm it was really dangerous.

Unknown Date, 1620 to 1621 ~ I don't know what date it is. I lost track but I actually don't like it here. I think its winter because there's snow. So i know it's between the years of 1620 and 1621. More than half the people here have died. It's scary because I don't want to die. What if my mother and father die? God Bless Me!

November 25, 1621 ~ I haven't written since I guess what my father says is either December or January, but its been almost a year now. The people from England have made peace with those browned skinned Indian people. I have been busy is why I haven't been writing but what has happened is that me and Love got some Indian friends that we have been playing with. I don't even know what they are saying sometimes but they still just show us some "Indian" games that they know of. The Indian boys I guess haven't been taught how to talk like they are supposed to but mother says that they speak their tribal language. I don't know what a tribe is but I am guessing that it has to do with the way they walk... Love and I have also taught them how to play some of our games like hopscotch and London bridge. I don't think they like it because sometimes they don't participate.

Tomorrow all of us English MEN are going to have a big feast with the Indians. We are going to share our food with them and they are going to share their food with us. It is going to be really tasty. I cant wait!

The Disaster-John Milender

 The Disaster

~John Milender~

    There I was, wearing only skins from the last animal I killed, a sabertooth tiger, hunting a woolly mammoth with all the brave men from my village in pretty warm weather. We had been waiting in a popular area for the mammoths. After awhile we started to head back to the village because it was starting to get dark and we hadn't eaten since last night. On our way back we had unexpectedly ran into one at the spring. All of us had stone spears that we  threw at the mammoth while some of us  had set up a trap of a very strong net made out of rope that we tied to two trees. The men who threw the spears chased the beast into the rope net to make it trip. The mammoth had ran right through it and broke it. The hunters that had tied the ropes  didn't throw their spears as the others did but when the beast  had broken the trap, they threw, right at the ankles. When they did the big woolly  mammoth had fallen to the ground. We killed it while it was down. All of us ran to the village to tell about the great news but when we got there, our village was destroyed. Many people were dead and many injured. A pack of more mammoths had stampeeded the village while all the men were gone....

~~~THE END~~~
August 3, 1492
My Journal
^Christopher Columbus^
August 3, 1492 ~ We have left the docks of Palos in my boat, The Santa Maria, looking for a great land and proving to everyone that indeed, the world is not flat. My crew of about 30 men and I will make our discovery and become even more wealthy. We will first stop at the Canary Island for supplies and then sail off into the unknown ocean hoping for luck.
September 5, 1492 ~ My crew, The Santa Maria and I have arrived at the Canary islands for our supplies. I have my two most needed things with me, my compass and astrolobe. My astrolobe is important because it will keep me going on a straight course to my destination.
September 6, 1492 ~ We have set sail.
September 19, 1492 ~ We have sailed into what seems like a thick meadow of grass, sea grass. We have never seen anything like it. It is amazing. We are worried we could get tangled in the green sea grass but soon after we drifted right out of it continuing our adventure.
October 9, 1492 ~ My crew and the other sailors are not happy. They say the sea feels endless. I don't think so. I feel that we are close to discovering something. I beg that the men will sail with me for three more days. If we find nothing we will head back home. I have also made an agreement. If we don't find land in the extra time that was given to me, i have told them they may cut off my head and sail home.
October 12, 1942 ~ LAND! We have found land! Indie Land!
October 13, 1942 ~ The Indies are actually Taino Indians. They are very nice. They have fed us and taken care of us. We have found amazing things. Pearls and Gold! Enough to bring back samples to the king and queen. We are going to be even richer than before!
October 14, 1942 ~ We have set sail home.
The 7th & 8th Grade
The 7th & 8th Grade Backpacking Trip
  Snapshot 1
 The main thing I remember the most was crossing the first river. I remember attempting to keep dry until the other side of the rapid sort of thing. I kept slipping on rocks and getting my hiking shoes soaked. When I got to the spot I realized I made a bad decision to go there and I took another route back. On that "route" I got stuck on two small rocks and couldn't go any further unless I get more wet. I just wanted to get back and get my stuff. It wasn't far back just about 50 meters but it took me FOREVER because I kept trying to keep my balance on the rocks. I had finally gotten back and was ready to eat my banana.
     Crossing the rapids again I tried to be "smart" and wore my water shoes.~~~~~
Misfits Book Review
The Misfits, A Suspenseful Comedy
    The fictional novel, The Misfits, written by James Howe, is about four junior high students named Bobby, Skeezie, Addie, and Joe who deal with being misfits in a big school and get called many names. They all call themselves the "Gang of Five", but there are only four of them.
    They all have issues; Bobby Goodspeed is fat, Skeezie Tookis is an outcast, Addie Carle is freakishly tall and a know it all, and Joe Bunch is gay. All of them are trying to get through the 7th grade without getting abused and called names. In the story Addie refused to say the pledge because she didn't believe anything in it. Because she refused the school started getting into politics and decided to have an election for student council president. There were only two parties. Addie wanted to make another party that would stop name calling because her and her friends were always called names. They called it the No-Name Party.
    I really enjoyed this book because it was funny and interesting. In some parts is get really suspenseful. For example when all the parties get to make a speech I really wanted to know what Bobby would say because I thought he would mess up. However, he didn't mess up and made a great speech and spoke from his heart. This book has made me feel different for people who are "misfits".  I think it would be hard to be one of them because having people bully me really wouldn't be fun and everyone shouldn't be called names, only if you are joking around in a friendly way.
    In conclusion, I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great book. I guarantee this book will make you think different about people that are different.
