The Disaster-John Milender

 The Disaster

~John Milender~

    There I was, wearing only skins from the last animal I killed, a sabertooth tiger, hunting a woolly mammoth with all the brave men from my village in pretty warm weather. We had been waiting in a popular area for the mammoths. After awhile we started to head back to the village because it was starting to get dark and we hadn't eaten since last night. On our way back we had unexpectedly ran into one at the spring. All of us had stone spears that we  threw at the mammoth while some of us  had set up a trap of a very strong net made out of rope that we tied to two trees. The men who threw the spears chased the beast into the rope net to make it trip. The mammoth had ran right through it and broke it. The hunters that had tied the ropes  didn't throw their spears as the others did but when the beast  had broken the trap, they threw, right at the ankles. When they did the big woolly  mammoth had fallen to the ground. We killed it while it was down. All of us ran to the village to tell about the great news but when we got there, our village was destroyed. Many people were dead and many injured. A pack of more mammoths had stampeeded the village while all the men were gone....

~~~THE END~~~
August 3, 1492
My Journal
^Christopher Columbus^
August 3, 1492 ~ We have left the docks of Palos in my boat, The Santa Maria, looking for a great land and proving to everyone that indeed, the world is not flat. My crew of about 30 men and I will make our discovery and become even more wealthy. We will first stop at the Canary Island for supplies and then sail off into the unknown ocean hoping for luck.
September 5, 1492 ~ My crew, The Santa Maria and I have arrived at the Canary islands for our supplies. I have my two most needed things with me, my compass and astrolobe. My astrolobe is important because it will keep me going on a straight course to my destination.
September 6, 1492 ~ We have set sail.
September 19, 1492 ~ We have sailed into what seems like a thick meadow of grass, sea grass. We have never seen anything like it. It is amazing. We are worried we could get tangled in the green sea grass but soon after we drifted right out of it continuing our adventure.
October 9, 1492 ~ My crew and the other sailors are not happy. They say the sea feels endless. I don't think so. I feel that we are close to discovering something. I beg that the men will sail with me for three more days. If we find nothing we will head back home. I have also made an agreement. If we don't find land in the extra time that was given to me, i have told them they may cut off my head and sail home.
October 12, 1942 ~ LAND! We have found land! Indie Land!
October 13, 1942 ~ The Indies are actually Taino Indians. They are very nice. They have fed us and taken care of us. We have found amazing things. Pearls and Gold! Enough to bring back samples to the king and queen. We are going to be even richer than before!
October 14, 1942 ~ We have set sail home.
